About
A visionary and extraordinary film about two co-existing but as different as chalk and cheese worlds. The first is a traditional Native American Navajo culture respectful of the nature and the past. They live in the eponymous Valley of the Gods and are uniquely capable of feeling the contact with nature, even with the nearby rocks. The other reality is the one of the richest people on Earth, Wes Tauros, for whom the past is a burden – it is where the loved dead belong.
The director leads us from one world to the other while weaving an erudite, mystical and poetical story about the longing for the soul and other losses. After watching the Valley of the Gods, the Navajos admitted that it is the first and so far the only film which presents their standpoint – also in terms of narration and meanings.
The music was written by the director and founder of the Transatlantyk Festival, Jan AP Kaczmarek. The film casts Hollywood stars: Josh Hartnett, John Malkovich, and Bérénice Marlohe known from her role in Skyfall.
