Paweł Borowski was born in 1973. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (Faculties of Painting and Animation Movies) summa cum laude in 1997. After graduation, he has had several individual exhibitions e.g. in the Centre for Contemporary Art and Zachęta National Gallery of Art. He also started making short films, the latest of which, "I love you", has been shown at many international festivals, e.g. Berlinale and Tribeca FF.
In 2009 he made his debut with the full-length film "Zero", produced by Opus Film (Poland). "Zero" was shown in numerous national and international festivals such Busan, Sao Paulo, Rotterdam, Warsaw, Washington, Munich, Milan, Łagów, Świdnica, Tarnów etc. gained critical acclaim and five times won Grand Prix. Since 2010 Borowski is a member of the Polish Film Academy and the European Film Academy.
For the subsequent few years Borowski has developed several projects, to finally enter the set of "I am lying now" in 2016. It is the European coproduction of Opus Film (Poland) and New Amsterdam Film Company (Netherlands). After over two years of post-production it is to be premiered in 2019.
