TRANSATLANTYK Instant Composition Contest 2012:

This contest will take place in this year’s edition of our Festival just as it did last year - when it met with great interest from both our competitors and the public. It is a twin contest to the TRANSATLANTYK Film Music Competition and will always appear along with the other one. It is sponsored by RAIFFEISEN Bank Polska S.A.

Once again - the TRANSATLANTYK Instant Composition Contest is open to participants from all over the world who by December 31st, 2012 are not yet of 35 years of age. The selection will take place on August 18th and the great finale - on August 19th, 2012.

During the selection part the composers will watch a short film clip and then will have to instantly compose a corresponding piano piece - all on stage while being watched by the audience. Those live improvisations will be judged by a jury which will chose 10 finalists of the contest. The final 10 will have to put their skill to test again - this time creating a 5-minute long piece for a different film clip.

The winner of the TRANSATLANTYK Instant Composition Contest 2012 will be conferred the title of the TRANSATLANTYK Instant Composer 2012 - First Prize in the amount of 20 000 USD. The winners of the Second and Third Prize will be awarded 10 000 USD and 5 000 USD respectively. The awards will be presented during the Festival’s closing ceremony on August 21st, 2012.
