Sylwia Chutnik

Born in 1979 in Warsaw. She is a writer, dramatist and columnist at “Polityka”, “Pani”, “Wysokie Obcasy”, “Gazeta Społeczna”. PhD student of the Institute of Polish Culture at the University of Warsaw, culture expert and graduate of Gender Studies graduate at the University of Warsaw.

Polish Writers' Union member. Women’s rights activist. She hosted “Cappuccino with a book” and “Forgotten-reclaimed” literature shows on TVP Kultura, and currently she co-hosts “Literary kip”. Author of novels “Kieszonkowy Atlas Kobiet” (Ha!Art 2008), “Dzidzia” (Świat Książki 2012), “Jolanta” (Znak 2015), “Smutek Cinkciarza” (Od Deski Do Deski 2016) and “Warszawa Kobiet” (Biblioteka Polityki 2011), a collection of columns “Mama ma zawsze rację” (Mamania 2012), “Proszę wejść. Więzienie, historie nieprawdziwe” (Nowy Teatr 2012) and a collection of short stories “W krainie czarów” (Znak 2014). 

Winner of Paszport Polityki 2008 (literature). Nominated to Nike Award in 2009, 2012 and 2015.

In 2010 she received the Ashoka Foundation’s Social Nobel award for social activity. In 2011 she became a laureate of the Polcul Foundation award for social activity.

Her books have been published in nine countries.
