Call for feature films!

We are now officially accepting proposals of films to be shown during the 8th Transatlantyk International Film Festival which will take place on 13-20 July 2018 in Łódź.

Transatlantyk Festival features films from all over the world. It presents not only glamorous premieres of the most important international festivals, but also thought-provoking film discoveries. The programme is open to all genres and types of films – one of the main aims of the Festival is to present new trends and changes in cinematography.

The organizers are looking forward to suggestions of feature, documentary and animated films made in 2017 and 2018, no shorter than 60 minutes. The deadline for entries is 25 March 2018.

Those of the films featured in the NEW CINEMA section (it combines previous Panorama and Docs sections) which are going to premiere in Poland during Transatlantyk Festival will compete for the Transatlantyk Distribution Award of PLN 40,000. The winning film will be chosen by the audience and the award will be granted to the Polish distributor who will introduce the film to Polish cinemas.

Transatlantyk Distribution Award is meant to support film distribution; it also follows the motto of Transatlantyk Festival: “To inspire, educate and bring together.” We want to participate actively in promoting remarkable modern films in Poland as well as support Polish distributors in presenting the best premieres of recent years – all this will increase the awareness and sensitivity to cinematography among the audience.

IFF Transatlantyk in Łódź is an artistic platform which by means of music and film creates stronger bonds between the society, art, and environment, and inspires discussion on current social issues.

During the 8 days of the last Transatlantyk Festival over 300 screenings took place presenting more than 200 films, including 55 premieres. The 7th IFF Transatlantyk attracted as many as 63 thousand viewers.

The creator and Director of the festival is a composer and winner of the Academy Award – Jan A.P. Kaczmarek: “Transatlantyk is the festival of ideas. Through the power of film and music we want to inspire people to talk about important problems and to promote Polish culture.” Since the 7th edition of the Transatlantyk Festival its Programme Director is Joanna Łapińska.
